Strange.
I swear I had something for this.
In the shower a few minutes ago, my mind was so full of words and cleverly arranged sentences that I meticulously picked out and selected just to impress upon you my thoughts in exactly the right way. I had a plethora of big, SAT words to throw out and showcase my bewildering vocabulary and everything. I suppose a good introduction to this whole mess would be a brief, concise explanation of my blog name. Without rambling too excessively. Because once I start to ramble, it becomes blatantly obvious that really I'm just a second-year college kid, sitting on my bed in my underwear and a borrowed t-shirt, staring at a blank space on my screen and still preoccupied with the possibility I may have missed more than a few spots shaving.
Granted, it is twelve till three in the morning.
Actually, it's eighteen minutes till three in the morning. Cursed mathematics.
But I supposed since all my big, impressive words and pre-planned expression has so courteously eluded me, I'll have to wing it. So here we go.
Hopefully more than a few of you looked at the web address to this and read "Potential-Inner-G", sounded it out aloud to yourself, and with the help of first grade phonics arrived at the conclusion that this blog's title is actually "Potential Energy". Applause. However, there is a double meaning to this, because I'm clever and believe in plot twists and M. Night Shyamalan films. "Inner-G", contrary to what you might be hoping, actually does not stand for "Inner Gangster", but "Inner Genius". Although if you want to pretend that it's "Inner Gangster", I won't be offended.
"Potential Energy" is defined online as "the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position relative to others, stresses within itself, electric charge, and other factors". I originally wanted my blog to be called "Potential Energy", because I believe that's who I am. And, more generally, all of humanity.
If you were to look at the world through the lenses in my eye sockets, you would see that we, as humans, are restless. We are all looking for an identity to call our own, a way to make something beautiful, and a voice to claim with a set of ears to go with it. I don't believe in the word "bored" because quite frankly, if you can't find anything to do with your time while there exists in the world more books than could be dreamt of, more sports than should be allowed, and more skills to be learned than I think anyone could ever learn in a whole life time...you aren't trying hard enough. Time is so precious and learning things now-a-days is so easy with youtube and google; there's no reason why we can't learn a new word every day, or make something beautiful with art, or some such simplistic satisfaction.
The problem now isn't that we're unable or too bored to think and learn, it's that we're lazy. We've grown complacent to sit and do nothing, because we don't have to do anything, really.
I'm not ok with that.
I look at humans and see worlds of potential to do amazing things. Because we have been created by an amazing God, to learn and create and reach and speak and be still and think. So I simply won't stand for not tapping into this whirlpool of thought and emotion that I feel inside of me every day waiting for me to tap into the right bloodstream and flow into the world.
So there you have it. "Potential-Inner-G." The potential burning deep inside all of us, to be geniuses, if we let ourselves. "Potential Energy". The urge we've conditioned ourselves to subdue, that begs us to reach for more than we've settled for.
My name is Hannah, and I am still starting out on this whole life thing.
This is my blog. A place for simple, unpretentious expression of thought. No masks, no photoshop, no sugarcoats allowed.
I can't guarantee regularity of content, or content that you'll find interesting.
This is just me, some girl on the interwebs writing down some thoughts. But hopefully they're ones you can appreciate. Thank you for reading. Have a great night.
Clever Name :P
ReplyDeleteGood points--no right to be bored. Was a good post and thought it deserved a comment.
